www.carshowroom.com.au will be driving the Mini five-door range at the national media launch in a couple of weeks but ahead of that comes news the price range for the historic first Mini five-door will kick-off at a very competitive $27,750.
That buys you the Mini Cooper model powered by the 100kW/220Nm turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine…and its pricing of more than $3,000 below the 103kW/250Nm Volkswagen Golf 103TSI Highline is purely co-incidental…not!
Other engine choices for the all-new Mini 5-door are the 85kW/270Nm 1.5-litre turbo-diesel in the Cooper D or the 141kW/280Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol in the sporty Cooper S.
Here’s how smart the Mini designers are: compared to the 3-door, the all-new Mini 5-door is just 161mm longer overall and 72mm longer in the wheelbase yet it is a genuine 5-seater and provides luggage space 278-litres with the rear seats in-place (67-litres more than the 3-door) and 940-litres with the 60/40 split-fold rear seat folded.
The second body variant of the third generation Mini, the five-door model adopts the new styling cues and boasts similarly high levels of standard equipment and technology including available dynamic cruise control.
Look for our driving impressions from the national media launch in Adelaide the week after next.
The Mini 5-door lineup is:
Cooper $27,750
Cooper D $32,900
Cooper S $38,050
