Car Showroom will be driving the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe at next week’s national media launch, but ahead of that, prices and preliminary details have been revealed.
All-new Hyundai Santa Fe adopts the now standard Hyundai model grades and the good news is the current version’s entry-level price of $36,990 is carried over to the new model. Entry-grade is now called ‘Active’ and this is the only grade for 2.4-litre petrol versions (manual or automatic) or you can go for the ‘Active model in diesel (also manual or automatic).
Mid-range Elite and range-topping Highlander are exclusively powered by the 2.2-litre diesel driving through a six-speed automatic transmission.
All models come with seven seats and drive all four wheels.
Design work for the stylish new Hyundai Santa Fe was done at the company’s California desing studio and takes the ‘Fluidic Design’ theme in a new direction called ‘Storm Edge’. Bottom line is the all-new Santa Fe delivers a much more imposing on-road presence starting with ‘eagle eye’ projector headlights and nice character lines.
Inside is a much more sophisticated look as the Santa fe is now bundled into Hyundai’s ‘Modern Premium’ group of vehicles.
All models are fitted standard with a reversing camera and Hyundai’s usual world-class suite of safety features including stability control and traction control. Debuting on the all-new Santa fe is another Hyundai safety system – Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ACCC).
Under the bonnet, Hyundai has ditched the current Santa Fe’s 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine in favour of the direct injection 2.4-litre four-cylinder. Diesel remains the excellent R-series 2.2-litre CRDi.
The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe stacks-up like this:
2.4-litre petrol Active (6-speed manual) $36,990
2.4-litre petrol Active (6-speed automatic) $38,990
2.2-litre diesel Active (6-speed manual) $39,990
2.2-litre diesel Active (6-speed automatic) $41,990
2.2-litre diesel Elite (6-speed automatic) $45,990
2.2-litre diesel Highlander (6-speed automatic) $49,990
