All-New Hyundai i30 Launched In Frankfurt

Designed and developed at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Russelsheim, Germany, it was appropriate Hyundai chose the Frankfurt Motor Show to unveil the all-new i30 five-door hatchback.

We thought the current Hyundai i30 was am good looker, but Hyundai’s chief designer, Thomas Burkle has uncorked another beauty which continues the company’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design philosophy.

European customers can choose from three petrol and three diesel engines (various 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre derivatives with power ranging from 66kW to 99kW. We suspect Australian versions due on-sale next year will employ the 99kW/164Nm, 1.6-litre, direct injection petrol engine and the 94kW/260Nm turbo-diesel.

In Europe, the Hyundai i30 range will include a Blue Drive version with integrated stop & go, low rolling resistance tyres and an alternator management system which combine to lower exhaust C02 emissions below 100g/km.

Interior design of the new Hyundai i30 takes its cues from the soon-to-arrive-in-Australia i40 wagon, including a large seven-inch touch screen. Both interior space and cargo capacity of the new Hyundai i30 better the current model.
