Not quite time to head to your nearest Honda dealer cheque-book in-hand, but anticipation for the all-new Honda NSX sports car is building.

Shown as a concept as recently as the Detroit Auto Show, the NSX is evidence clear that Honda has its ‘mojo’ back after more than a decade of setbacks dating from the GFC to Japan earthquake/tsunami and Thailand floods.

Honda North America is the prime-mover of NSX development and while there has been no launch date set in-stone, there seems little doubt we’ll see the NSX on the road within 12 months.

Although nothing official has been said, Honda Australia’s sales and marketing chief Stephen Collins told Car Showroom at the all-new Accord media launch in New Zealand: “I’m confident we’ll get the NSX”.

For North America and other prime markets like the Middle East and Europe, Honda needs the NSX in lwft-hand-drive. Good news for Australia is Honda’s head office market, Japan, is right-hand-drive.

You’d reckon committing the NSX to left-hand-drive only production would be career-limiting for anyone at Honda.

Honda sold around 200 examples of the previous generation NSX in Australia so we have a strong track record.

Watch this space and don’t be surprised if there’s an announcement around the time of the Tokyo Motor Show in the Spring.
