This is the first official look at Hyundai’s all-new i20 compact hatchback which will have it global unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in October.
The new look is a clear departure from the current generation and Hyundai says we can expect class-leading interior space and, in a B-segment first, a panoramic glass sunroof.
Designed and developed by Hyundai at Russelsheim, Germany and targeting the European market, the all-new i20 highlights its enhanced interior dimensions with a wheelbase 45mm longer than the current model at 2570mm.
And as well as the extra legroom, cargo capacity is also claimed to be segment-leading at 325-litres with the rear seat in-place.
Styling is along the lines of Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ philosophy but for the i20, the hallmark chrome-framed hexagonal grille has been lowered. The front also sees bi-function projector headlights, and LEDs for the DRLs and cornering lights.
The side view is highlighted by a single full-length feature line and lower moudlings for the doors.
An interesting twist at the rear is a gloss-black C-pillar (to give the impression of a floating roofline) and wraparound boomerang shaped LED lights.
Too early for Aussie details.
