Alfa Romeo’s long-awaited 4C sports car goes on-sale locally next year and ahead of that, the exotic two-seater with a carbon-fibre passenger cell has set a new benchmark time in testing at Germany’s Nurburgring circuit.
Stopping the clock in 8 minutes 04 seconds, the Alfa Romeo 4C has claimed a new record for cars with engines producing less than 250-horsepower (187kW).
The only mods were fitment of Pirelli Zero Trofeo tyres – the sportiest of Pirelli’s P Zero line approved for road use.
Nurburgring expert Horst von Saurma was entrusted with the driving duties.
Alfa Romeo Australia reckons we’ll see the 4C in Australia during the second quarter of 2014 and while pricing hasn’t been finalized, a range of $80,000-$100,000 has been quoted with hopes for “the lower end of that range”.
