With a toughness reputation amongst miners and farmers which is second-to-none, Toyota’s workhorse LandCruiser 200 Series Wagon has gone even further with the launch of a new turbo-diesel XL variant.

Priced at $77,990, Toyota says the new LandCruiser 200 Series GX (based on the GXL) is the spiritual successor to the legendary 100 Series standard grade.

Specifications will please rural and mining operators as well as those who just work their LandCruiser hard – twin barn-style rear doors, vinyl floors, 17-inch steel wheel, a snorkel, auxiliary fuel tank (148-litres in total), five seats, under-body protection and a standard (non-electronic key).

As well, the new Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series GX runs manual air-conditioning plus power windows and mirrors.

Importantly, Toyota says the GX retains the GXL model’s safety equipment (important for OH&S requirements for fleet operators) such as twin front airbags, side curtain airbags, VSC and traction control and Toyota CRAWL (off-road cruise control).

Power comes from Toyota’s 195kW/650Nm, 4.5-litre V8 twin-turbo diesel.
