Jeep today has issued a recall notice for 2015-2016 model year Wrangler off-roaders, after the manufacturer uncovered an issue with its front impact sensors.
Going into detail, the airbags & seatbelt pretensioners may fail to work effectively should the issue not be fixed. Jeep says that the wires connecting the front impact sensor and the Occupant Restraint Controller module may become detached, in the event of an accident.
This would pose serious, potentially fatal risk to the occupants of the affected models. A list of vehicle identification numbers (VIN) can be viewed here.
Owners of affected Wranglers will be contacted by FCA Australia, though we advise visiting their nearest Jeep dealership to have the issue rectified at the soonest convenience.
