Hyundai’s up-market Genesis range is heading to Australia, but unfortunately this version of the coupe won’t be included in the lineup.
This is the high-performance version created by Bisimoto which will be displayed at the specialist SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Using the standard naturally-aspirated 3.8-litre V6 engine of the R-Spec Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Bisimoto adds turbocharger technology to deliver 1,000 horsepower (roughly 746kW).
Apart from the twin Bisimoto/Turbonetics BTX6462 turbochargers, other mods include steel conrods, new camshafts, new injectors, forged pistons, new fuel pumps, Griffin radiator and a new ignition system.
On the outside the radical Hyundai Genesis Coupe runs ‘Electric Blue’ paint and raw carbon-fibre for the bonnet and rear hatch.
Inside the race-like interior includes a roll cage.
We asked Hyundai Australia’s Bill Thomas for a drive of the 1,000 horsepower Genesis and he said: “Shame Carlton didn’t make the AFL Grand Final isn’t it?” We think that means no!
