Road Resue teams soon will be under intense training

Road rescue teams from Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong will soon be going through intensive training thanks to the generosity of Holden.

The company has donated 55 vehicles – VE Commodore Sedans and Sportwagons, WM Caprice and Statesmen models – to the Australasian Road Rescue Organization (ARRO) be used in simulated road crashes and training.

It’s all part of the annual Australasian Road Rescue Challenge, focusing on emergency skills training for rescue workers and being hosted by the NSW Fire Brigade at Sydney’s Australian Technology Park.

The 14 competing teams will perform three rounds of exercises to enhance their vital skills aimed at improving the rescue and medical treatment of people involved in road crashes.

Holden donated the vehicles which were destined for crushing as they were used for engineering evaluation and not intended for public sale.

The ARRO comprises individuals and organizations working in emergency services such as fire services, state emergency services and ambulance services.

Holden has supported the ARRO for many years; perhaps the Australian NCAP management could also lend a hand with the vehicles they crash into barriers?
