2020 Audi TT Range Gets Chopped To Only 2 Variants

As some may have heard, Audi is putting the TT model on the chopping block as affirmed by Audi chief executive Bram Schot. The current reiteration of the TT reaches our shores in only two guises – TT 45 TFSI Quattro and TTS for the 2020 model year.

Prior to the announcement, Audi Australia had no less than 10 variants on sale (sans the TT RS) for the 2019 model year. The update sees the end of manual transmission and front-wheel drive variants for the perky coupe.

The updated TT (45 TFSI) gains a price hike of $5,000 over the outgoing car, however the marque has been quoted in saying that it will ship with “more than $5,000” worth of additional equipment such as LED headlights with dynamic rear indicators, auto-folding wing mirrors, wireless smartphone charging and its signature all-wheel drive system as standard.

Additionally, all models come bundled up with driver-assistance tech such as Audi Side Assist, Active Lane Assist, Audi Parking System, Progressive Steering and Cruise Control.

Power output remains unchanged over its predecessor, with a 2.0-litre TFSI mill churning out a respectable 169kW and 370Nm of torque. It takes just 5.3 seconds for it to hit 100km/h from stand still while sipping fuel at a combined rate of just 6.6L/100km.

Likewise, the Audi TTS is still offered with a 2.0-litre 210kW power plant producing 380Nm of twist on tap from 1,800 right through to 5,200rpm. This equates to a century sprint time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed limited to 250 km/h while returning 7.0L/100km on the combined cycle.

Customers can expect to find Nappa leather upholstery, a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, red brake callipers, metallic paint and quattro as standard fixtures on this top variant.

Optional equipment for those seeking to customise their TT 45 TFSI further, look no further than Audi’s S Line sport package which includes 19-inch alloy wheels, S Line exterior trim, S sport seats, aluminium interior accents as well as an uprated stereo system for a cool $7,990.

For $4,900 however, the range-topping TTS gets LED Matrix headlights, black gloss exterior accents, auto-dimming wing mirrors, Park Assist and an extended leather package as part of the S Performance package.
