Japanese auto giant Toyota is about to take another big step in its ongoing product renewal efforts, with the North American & Chinese launches of the 2019 Toyota Corolla scheduled for November 16th. While the Corolla hatch is already winning the hearts and minds of many across the globe, the Corolla saloon is arguably the more important family member here: The Corolla saloon has served as the default family car for so many over the years, and the latest model aims to continue that lineage.

The sole teaser for the car was given in typical fashion – very dark, designed to hide as much as possible. However it didn’t take much effort to brighten the image, revealing some details that we might have otherwise missed. It’s clear that the fascia of the North American Corolla saloon will differ slightly from the hatch, with a unique upper grille that looks slimmer and appears to only link the headlights visually. Even the Toyota badge has been moved upwards. The lower fascia remains familiar with a large opening, though it now integrates with (non-functioning) vents on either side which feature slim LED fog lights.

Of course, this teaser likely features the face of a high-end variant of the Corolla saloon. Expect less visual flair for vanilla models, all of which are expected to be shown at the November 15th launch (US-time).

Toyota China has announced also that it’ll be unveiling the new Corolla & Levin models on November 16th (China-time) at the Guangzhou motorshow. A quick glance at the timezone differences and they make the two nearly-simultaneous events, which has us wondering if they’re going to be one-in-the-same. Traditionally, North American Toyotas differed from globally-available models, though Toyota’s new strategy may see the Corolla get streamlined in presentation, as per what’s happened with the larger Camry.
