… and a host of other little changes, too.
Hyundai’s two biggest cars have gotten a significant aesthetic and kit update, which will see it through the 2019 model year. We’re talking about the iMax and iLoad, the big people mover and commercial van. The two diesel-powered behemoths gain a facelift in the most literal sense, as well as the addition of several thoughtful and useful features for the new model year, that we’re sure buyers will appreciate.
The iMax and iLoad range get a whole new face for 2019, with a larger grille that integrates the headlights seamlessly. There’s a new chrome lip surround to the grille too, while all cars also get automatic headlights, a tilt & telescopically-adjustable steering wheel, an updated instrument cluster with trip computer, as well as a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with 6-speakers on the iMax).
The iMax passenger van gets other niceties like projector-beam headlights, electrically-folding wing mirrors with integrated indicators, and those 6-speakers. The posher iMax Elite model gets beige leather throughout, a two-tone dash, 17-inch alloys with a full-size spare, an electrochroamatic rear view mirror, dual sunroofs, and heated front pews, while the drivers’ seat gains ventilation too.
All iMax models will utilise a 5-speed automatic transmission as standard.
The iLoad passenger van gains the automatic lamps, tilt-&-telescopically adjustable steering wheel, updated instrument cluster and infotainment system, as well as that new face (albeit with halogen-reflector lamps rather than snazzy projectors). However, while the iMax is now available exclusively as an automatic, the iLoad van will still soldier on with the option of a 6-speed manual.
The iLoad and iMax range will continue to solder on with the same 2.5-litre turbodiesel 4-pot, putting out 100kW/343Nm in the manual models, and 125kW/441Nm in the automatic versions. Power still goes to the rear wheels exclusively too, though don’t expect to get up to any hooliganism here.
Prices for the iLoad van begin at $38,790 for a manual lift back van, rising to $44,340 for a twin-swing crew van. Interestingly though, the iMax range receives a $3300 price drop compared to the outgoing entry-level automatic variant, with prices for the iMax Active starting at $43,990. The iMax Elite, with all the bells and whistles will set you back $48,490 (all prices quoted exclude various on-road costs).
All private iMax buyers will enjoy a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty, while commercial buyers of the iLoad and iMax will get a 5-year/160,000km warranty.
