It’s the “world’s most advanced EV,” apparently.
The Fisker EMotion has been unveiled in its entirety on Twitter, with Henrik Fisker taking to the microblogging site to share his excitement over the new car. Claimed to be the “world’s most advanced EV,” the EMotion packs a 643km range and the advanced driver assistance (ADAS) systems that would be expected of an EV commanding a US$129,000 (or about $172,000 thereabouts) price tag.
The EMotion was originally planned to ship with a highly-advanced graphene super-capacitor powertrain, though Fisker has since clarified that it will instead use a lithium-ion battery pack with “state of the art manganese cobalt oxide chemistry produced by the world’s leading battery company,” while its “efforts in graphene & solid state [power storage solutions] continue!”
While remaining faithful to the concept car that we first clapped eyes on late-2016, the production model features things like wing mirrors, more pronounced doors, and door handles. Aside from that, the concepts’ looks are retained wholesale, replete with the faux grille up front that houses the relevant LiDAR and radar sensors for the EMotion’s ADAS technology.
The EMotion has been confirmed to bring with it features like a aluminium-carbon fibre construction, lightweight alloys, and even its own ‘UltraCharger’ system which can give the EMotion 160km of driving range from just 9-minutes of charging. It’s likely that the EMotion will soon give Tesla a headache, with the EMotion coming in at around the same price as its flagship Model S (with 100kWh battery pack) that offers only a little over 500km of range per-charge. That said, the success of the EMotion hinges on the takeup rate of the swish-looking new saloon, and the rollout of its UltraCharger infrastructure.
Regardless, would we like to see these on the roads? Yes please.
Stay tuned to CarShowroom for more updates as we get them.
