But it might be writing cheques it won't cash.

2018 Volkswagen T-Roc Sketch Reveals Some Details

A sketch has been revealed by German automotive powerhouse Volkswagen, ahead of the brand introducing its ’T-Roc’ compact SUV crossover later this year. The T-Roc, in terms of size and positioning, will be aimed directly at competitors like the Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR, Skoda Karoq, and Citroën C4 Cactus.

The sketch shows off a shapely, muscular, and certainly eye-catching proposition, and sports a full-width lower front valance and a smart use of brightwork, though this flies head-on with spy shots that have surfaced recently of the T-Roc that sports a far more predictable (though not in any way unattractive) design language. Images of what a production T-Roc might look like (courtesy of the Ferd Facebook page) further cement the pared-back design, which should fit right in with the rest of the Volkswagen range.

The T-Roc, owing to its shared underpinnings, will see motivation from the same range of engines seen in the Polo and Golf hatchbacks, with a range of petrol and diesel options to be joined by electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The T-Roc is expected to go on sale sometime after its July debut, with a price below $30k (speculated £19,000).

Will it be able to sway sales juggernauts like the Honda HR-V and the increasingly-popular Toyota C-HR? We’ll just have to wait and see.
