They were careful to be subtle…
When you think of Nissan’s compact crossover, the Juke, ‘subtle’ is perhaps the last word you’ll think of. With its funny face, compact proportions, and extroverted design, the Juke has been the go-to choice for a funky, standout small crossover for quite some time.
However, it’s been around for a while, so Nissan’s freshened it up to keep it fighting fit for 2018. But how do you go about redesigning something that sports a design so interesting that it’s been enough to maintain healthy sales since the model was first introduced?
Easy: You don’t.
Take a look at the 2018 Juke, and unless you’re an anorak, you won’t notice the dark chrome that’s been employed for the grille, which has also been applied to the inside of the headlights and the inside of the mirror-mounted indicators. Further, there are now LED foglights for the Juke in Europe from Acenta grade upwards.
There are also new alloy wheel designs ranging from 16-inches to 18-inches, with top-spec Tekna grade models (the flagship trim for the Juke in Europe) gaining the option of adding colour inserts to those alloys. Colour inserts are also available for the bumpers front and rear, door side sills, and even the wing mirror caps, though these are all optional.
Inside, the Juke sports the most minimal of changes, limited to the offering of a new BOSE Personal audio system. With the new audio system, the Juke sees fitment of two speakers to the drivers’ headrest as well as six other high-performance speakers around the cabin, which promises to deliver an “immersive listening experience.” Sure.
The upgraded Juke crossover will be on sale in Europe come May, and so far we’ve heard nothing from Nissan Australia about local availability. But you can rest assured that should it arrive on our shores, CarShowroom will be on hand to tell you all about it.
