We get a peek at Peugeot’s facelifted family hatch.

It seems that Peugeot’s got a facelift in the works for its award-winning 308, with leaked images showing off revised styling (really) and improved tech. The photos you see here were published first on PeugeotForum, which has since taken them down, meaning the phrase ‘sneak peek’ takes a very literal sense here.

The facelifted 308 sees a revised front bumper bearing a more aggressive design, with the indicator strips remaining separate from the headlight clusters. The new bumper also integrates foglights in the corners, while the headlights themselves see a move away from the dotted-LED daytime running lights in the current car to sleeker light-bar units.

The grille also seems to be pinched from existing GT-line models, with the Peugeot griffith sitting proudly in the middle, having moved from the protruding edge of the bonnet. At the rear, we initially thought that the French company had decided not to touch it at all, until it was pointed out to us that the taillight housings appear to be darker than before.

The cabin of the new 308 appears to show no changes sans one: The central infotainment display, which controls almost all of the vehicle’s functions, has been upsized to meet the edges of the air-conditioning vents. While the 308 first debuted Peugeot’s acclaimed i-Cockpit cabin design language, the second-generation of that cabin architecture (as seen on the new 3008 & 5008 SUVs) does not feature here.

There are no mechanical changes expected for the new 308, though we do not expect to see too many changes from the existing engine & drivetrain. Motor1 France, a reputable French motoring publication says that the 308 facelift will make its global market debut in June. Should that timeline hold, we should expect to see the updated 308 arrive on our shores in time for the 2018 model year.
