From the boss’ mouth, no less.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, a car that’s been discussed and bandied about longer than time itself, will finally be making its debut at the upcoming New York motor show next week.
Speaking to the media, Jeep boss Mike Manley confirmed that the Trackhawk would be making its first public appearance at the motorshow, but otherwise remained tight-lipped. “That is going to be quite a special vehicle,” Manley said. “Very difficult for one not to smile.”
The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is expected to pack the supercharged 6.2-litre Hellcat V8, which develops up to 527kW & 880Nm of torque in Dodge’s Charger & Challenger Hellcat models. It’s likely to take a bit of a power drop though, owing to the all-wheel drive it will certainly offer. That said, it’ll still be a step up from the existing performance Grand Cherokee, the SRT, that packs a more modest 344kW/624Nm from its atmo 6.4-lite V8.
Manley also confirmed to the media that the next-generation Jeep Wrangler (which we leaked here) would make its debut before the end of the year. The new Wrangler will sport a lighter body, revised engines, and up to three body styles with the addition of a hotly-anticipated ute variant.
