The 2017 Holden Colorado pick-up made its debut at the ANZ stadium during the final game of the 2016 State of Origin series between the QLD Maroons and the NSW Blues. It will be available at Holden dealers across the country starting from 1st September.
The updated ute comes fresh to Aussie shores with new styling and some welcome additions to the overall technology offerings – both for safety and convenience. The oily bits haven’t gone through much change but some of the new features are new even among its rivals.
Holden’s Executive Director of Sales, Peter Keley, said: “Colorado has resonated well with customers in a segment that has almost doubled in sales in the last ten years, and we’re confident the new 2017 Colorado will build on this and redefine customer expectations of what a truck can be,” Mr Keley said.
“Not only does it come with fresh new styling, it also offers car-like refinement, ride and handling as well as vehicle technologies unique to this segment including Apple CarPlay® and Android® Auto connectivity.
“Colorado is also the only vehicle in the 4x4 utility vehicle segment to offer remote window activation – a feature we expect to be popular with customers in hot climate parts of Australia.”
Holden wanted the new Colorado to improve upon the pick-up’s on-road refinement and ride quality while retaining the outgoing model’s capable off-road capability. In addition to the improved cabin feel, noise insulation has also been improved.
Once inside, the Colorado now features a new MyLink infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity through either a 7 or 8-inch central touchscreen that also offers standard DAB+ radio, satellite navigation, and voice recognition (depending on variant).
On the safety front, the updated Holden ute now offers a front facing camera that enables active safety features such as Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning. Of course, low speed manoeuvring is aided by front and rear parking assist sensors and a standard rear view camera.
Holden is also keen to offer buyers a bridge to the Colorado Xtreme concept that was shown off earlier this year in March and will offer the 2017 model with a plethora of genuine accessories. Buyers can choose from: Bullbars, Safari Bar, Bash Plates, Extended Rail Sports Bars, Steel Rear Step, Tubular steel Side Steps, LED driving lights, Fender Flares, Nudge Bar, Snorkel, 18in Wheels and all terrain tyres.
Joseph Basile, Holden Engineering Manager – Accessories, said: “When we revealed the Colorado Xtreme show truck back in March, we received overwhelmingly positive feedback, and that has driven us to make sure we included as many of the concept accessories as we could, into the final Colorado program,”
“In the coming months, the 2017 Colorado will deliver a plethora of all-new accessories to its range including a safari bar, fender flares, LED driving lights, 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tyres, so we’re confident there’s something for everybody.”
