So you can be safe through the week and on weekends.
Regional safety regulators ANCAP have released their reports on the new BMW 520d saloon and more niche Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo Activity travel van, and it’s good news: Both the business saloon and luxury glamper have received 5-star ratings for passenger safety.
The BMW was marked out for its “strong list” of advanced driver assistance systems, though ANCAP CEO James Goodwin was disappointed that a driver’s knee airbag was omitted from the Australian version, despite offering it in other markets. “Here in Australia, we’ve again seen a car brand change the safety specification of a global vehicle provided for our market,” he said.
Diane Tarr, managing director at Mercedes-Benz Vans, spoke positively of the report. “We are proud of this achievement as a company, and I want to praise the co-operative engagement by ANCAP which has been instrumental in us achieving this result. We have already had strong interest in the Marco Polo Activity; It complements Australians’ love of the outdoors really well.”
