2017 Audi S3 Range Detailed

Alongside with today’s announcement of the facelifted A3 range, Audi Australia has announced the specs & prices for the refreshed S3. The 2017MY update sees a lot of kit thrown at the S3, in Sportback, Sedan, and Cabriolet bodystyles.

With prices starting at $62,900 (before ORC) for the Sportback and ballooning to $72,000 for the S3 Cabriolet, the little speed machines see the inclusion of new tech, new equipment, and even an increase in power.

So, we’ll talk about the power first. The new S3 range now get a whopping 3kW more than the outgoing S3’s, producing a total of 213kW/380Nm. Sportback and Sedan S3’s do the century sprint in 4.8 seconds, while the Cabriolet finishes the sprint at 5.3 seconds. S3’s with the manual six-speed transmission do the 0-100km/h dash about 0.6seconds slower than the automatic models.

For the S3’s, Audi’s excellent Virtual Cockpit is standard fit, seeing away with conventional dials and substituting them with an excellent 12.3-inch screen instead. Other standard items include autonomous emergency braking (up to 65km/h) with pedestrian protection, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. LED headlights are also standard fare, along with dual-zone climate control, lane departure warning, nappa-leather sports seats, a 7.0-inch MMI navigation plus system (replete with life traffic updates), DAB+ digital radio and a 10-speaker audio system.

No Audi is complete without options, and the S3 doesn’t disappoint. On offer are two S-Performance packages (at $4,537 and $6,487 respectively), which add things like quilted sports seats, Audi magnetic ride control, a Bang&Olufsen sound system, red brake calipers, and sportier rims, measuring 19-inches on the more expensive package.

The Audi Assistance package offered in the A3 is also offered here as a cost option ($1,950) which adds things like adaptive cruise control with stop-start function, Audi pre-sense front (providing collision warnings at speeds up to 200km/h), high beam assist, active lane keep assist, as well as a automatic hill-hold function for “smooth driving.”
