After a great reaction from the public earlier this year resulting in swift sales, Toyota has brought back the Camry RZ special-edition, albeit with some slight changes.
For starters, the Camry RZ is now pegged at $29,190 (before OTR costs), which represents a substantial increase of $700 over the last RZ, and an even more significant increase of $2,700 over the Altise-spec Camry on which the RZ is based. However, the RZ now comes with a touchscreen satellite navigation system, paired with a six-speaker sound system and DAB+ digital radio. Voice recognition and all round parking sensors get thrown in too, adding more tech appeal.
What remains unchanged from the previous iteration of the RZ are the exterior dress up bits, like the 18”-gloss black wheels with low profile rubbers, RZ decals and badging, sports suspension, dual exhaust system and other little highlights, finished in gloss black. They're not all purely aesthetic though, with the exhaust system boosting power by 2kW and 4Nm, resulting in 135kW and 235Nm from the 2.5-litre four cylinder petrol engine under the bonnet.
The interior of the RZ sees the usual smattering of appointments, like dual-zone climate control, a three-spoke steering wheel, RZ-branded floor mats, and keyless entry and go. Five exterior colours are on offer, with the two solid finishes (diamond white or cherry) coming at no extra cost, while the remaining three (silver pearl, graphite metallic, and eclipse black mica) come at a $450 premium.
As standard across the Camry range, the RZ will see seven airbags, reversing camera, stability & traction control, ABS with BA and EBD on safety duty, contributing to its five-star ANCAP safety score.
