While the new Civic is getting all the attention, and in a lot of those cases because it thoroughly deserves it, Honda hasn’t forgotten the large family sedan that sits above it.

Honda Australia has brought out the new and improved Accord that boasts some styling tweaks and technology upgrades to help it hold the line among its class rivals.

The most distinct difference would be the changes to the front fascia which adopts Honda’s new ‘Solid Wing’ corporate face that had debuted on the all-new Civic and will no doubt trickle down into the rest of the Honda range of passenger cars.

To accompany the new face, Honda has fitted a new headlamp design along with new wheels, LED fog lamps, new rear bumper and a new exterior paint finish – Brilliant Sporty Blue.

On the inside, the Accord gains a multi-angle reversing camera and a new infotainment system with compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There’s also feature called LaneWatch that eliminates blind spot anxiety during overtaking or merging by displaying that area on the car’s 7-inch infotainment screen as a sort of angled rear-view mirror.

Honda buyers will also see the return of the entry-level Accord VTi which brings the starting price to $32,990. Above that sits the VTi-L and both share the same 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine developing 129kW and 225Nm that’s good for a claimed 8.0-litres/100km (or 8.2-litres in the VTi-L).

At the top of the Accord range is the V6L, which is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine that develops 206kW and 339Nm of torque.

Director of Honda Australia, Stephen Collins, said: “The Honda Accord has a very loyal customer base within the Australian market. We're providing buyers with an extensive standard features list at a very competitive entry point. The combination of upgraded styling, improved connectivity and technology features, will appeal to a wide range of prestige sedan customers.”
