Mazda Australia have updated their flagship model the Mazda6. First launched back in 2012 the Mazda6 has sold over 120,000 since it was launched, allowing Mazda Australia to lay claim to having Australia’s best-selling mid-sized import. Just like the updated Mazda CX-5 launched a few weeks ago, the Mazda6 has just under gone a similar mid-life update.
The 2015 Mazda6 is available in sedan and wagon, petrol or diesel and in four trim levels – Sport, Touring GT and Atenza.
The new 2015 Mazda6 has added a head up display and white LED lighting to the GT and Atenza. The Touring, GT and Atenza also receive a electric seat height adjustment for the front passenger seat. Replacing the handbrake with an electric park brake has allowed Mazda to include the MZD Connect and multi function command control across the Mazda6 range. Power folding mirrors are also standard for all models.
The exterior of the Mazda6 has been updated with changes to the grille and headlights to offer a more aggressive front styling. The headlights and fog lamps now uses LEDs on all models except on the entry level sport which sticks with Halogen globes. The rear of the Mazda6 has also updated with a redesigned taillight and the use of LEDs.
The Mazda6 continues to be offered with either 17” or 19” wheels., the latter updated to include a dark finish in effort to appear more luxurious.
The 2015 Mazda6 is available in eight colours with two new colours Sonic Silver Metallic and Titanium Flash Mica with the Titanium Flash Mica also being found on the Mazda3 range.
No changes to the engines on offer the Mazda6 comes with a choice of the 2.5-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol or 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel.
The petrol engine is good for 138kW at 5,700rpm and 250Nm at
3,250rpm matched to a six-speed automatic fuel consumptions is a claimed 6.6L / 100km and C02 emissions are 153g/km (sedan) / 155g/km (wagon)
The diesel engine 129kW at 4,500rpm and 420Nm at 2,000rpm and is paired to a six-speed automatic that sips just 5.4L / 100 km and has C02 emissions of 141g/km (sedan & wagon)

Highlights from the spec sheet for the entry-level petrol only Mazda6 Sports are 17” alloy wheels, power mirrors, rear LEDs, dual zone climate control, cruise control, reverse camera and paddle shifters for sporty manual changes. The Safety pack is available for $1,230 which adds Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) Rear Cross Traffic Alert , Rear-view mirror with auto dimming function and Smart City Brake Support
Touring models adds the choice of petrol or diesel engines, LEDs headlights, fog lights, day running lights, drivers seat memory functions, leather trim, and a bose sound system. The safety pack the same as above but with Smart City Brake Support for front and rear.
The GT receives 19” alloy wheels, sunroof, heated front seats, auto dimming review mirror, Adaptive Front-lighting System (auto high beam function) and keyless entry. The safety pack for GT cost $1,060.
Top of the range Mazda6 Atenza receives Radar cruise control, Adaptive LED Headlamps, Blind Spot Monitoring, Driver Attention Alert, Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-keep Assist System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Smart Brake Support and Smart City Brake Support [Forward/Reverse]. All safety options come as standard on the range topping Atenza.
