Mazda has taken the covers off the updated 2015 Mazda CX-5, which goes on sale in Australian showrooms from February 1.
The original Mazda CX-5 has been a huge success for Mazda Australia with nearly 60,000 cars being sold since it went on sale three years ago. Following up that success is always a difficult challenge but the team from Mazda looks to have outdone themselves with the mid-life update.
The team in Hiroshima set out to improve the overall package of the CX-5 by sharpening the exterior design, improving the interior quality & comfort and finally improving the safety features that are offered across the range There has been no engine or running gear changes to the 2015 CX-5.
The exterior changes include a five fin horizontal grille that replaces the outdated mesh grille, LEDs now are used for headlights, fog-lamps and taillights. The 19” alloy wheels have a new style that helps give the CX-5 a more luxurious look.
Inside the Mazda CX-5 the park brake has been replaced with an electric version that has allowed Mazda the space to introduce the MZD connect infotainment system that works with a 7” touchscreen.
Mazda has also reduced the level of road noise heard inside the cabin by increasing the glass in the doors by 13% and also adding additional sound proofing to the firewall and floor of the CX-5, resulting in a 10% improvement in NVH performance.
The i-ActiveSense safety pack is an option available across the range $1260 for Maxx and Maxx Sport and $1060 on GT and standard on Akera . The safety pack includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and Smart City Brake Support.
