Although expected for some time, confirmation arrived overnight from Akura (Honda) that the all-new NSX sports car will make its public debut in early January at the Detroit Auto Show.
That will be three years since Honda first announced a replacement for its iconic supercar was under development.
Riding on the back of company’s return for F1 Grand Prix racing next year – re-uniting with the McLaren team – the all-new, North American-developed Honda NSX will be powered by a three-motor, twin-turbocharged driveline.
All-wheel-drive? That’s the expectation.
Will the all-new model build on the Honda NSX heritage? We hope so.
The fact is when it comes to raise-the-bar new products, the Honda and Acura brands have really been in the doldrums since the GFC (2007) and Japanese tsunami/earthquake (2009) - Honda fans are hoping the cachet of the all-new NSX and the F1 program will rub-off on the volume-selling Honda nameplates.
We hope so too and we’re looking forward to 12 January when the all-new Honda NSX appears in production form.
