In the last few months Honda Australia has been in “run-out” mode for all of its hybrid vehicles in preparation for the launch of the 2015 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid.
The old stable of the Honda Insight , Civic Hybrid, Jazz Hybrid and CR-Z are no longer sold by the Japanese importer, instead they will be replaced by the new Honda Accord Sport Hybrid, new Jazz Hybrid and the new hero in the stable the 2016 Honda NSX which is due later next year.
Honda Australia has just launched the all-new 2015 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid that has a claimed fuel consumption figure of just 4.6l per 100km and C02 emissions of 107 grams per kilometer.
2015 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid sees the introduction of the i-MMD system that is a new powertrain that selects the optimal drive mode to suit driving conditions.
The Hybrid Sport can shift between three modes of driving, EV drive, engine drive, and hybrid drive. When in EV mode the electric drive motor powers the front wheels via energy stored in the lithium-ion battery. Once up to cruising speed or when you need to accelerate lightly the 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine helps drive the wheels through single gear transmission. Finally when in hybrid mode, the engine powers a generator, which helps power the battery.
“The Accord Sport Hybrid is the first vehicle in Australia that features our all-new hybrid powertrain,” said Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins.
“Honda’s advanced technology delivers exceptional performance with outstanding fuel economy, ensuring our customers can have the best of both worlds.
“The Accord Sport Hybrid further demonstrates Honda’s commitment to petrol-electric hybrid powertrains as a critical technology for reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions,” Mr. Collins said.
Priced from $58,990 the Honda Accord Sport Hybrid includes a long list of standard features:
