Subaru WRX fans the wait is finally over. Subaru Australia has confirmed to Carshowroom.com.au that the Subaru WRX will hopefully be launched in March 2014. First launched in Australia back in March 1994, the WRX has gone on to sell in excess of 42,000 units.
Managing Director of Subaru Australia Nick Senior told Carshowroom.com.au 'I think the challenge for WRX is not alienate our existing customers as they extremely passionate and great at giving Subaru feedback. But to to grow the WRX customer base by attracting customer who may have not considered a WRX previously. The real DNA of the WRX over the time has been its driving credentials and I know the new one (WRX) from a factory point of view that the driving experience is paramount.'
As a drivers car it has stood the test of time and Subaru believe that 2014 WRX will continue that tradition. Subaru have benchmarked the latest WRX against a host of German and Japanese rivals, however management gave little details as to which cars it had been tested against.
The 2014 Subaru WRX will be more expensive than the current $39,990 price tag, the same price it originally launched for in 1994. 'It will offer more appeal in just about every context, it will offer more performance, (better) interior, style and design' Senior told Carshowroom.com.au
Subaru have also confined that Australian car buyers will only need to wait about 6 months before the STi version is launched in Australia.
Carshowroom.com.au expects full details to launched at the Tokyo or LA motor show next month. However we will need to wait until 2014 to hear about local spec and pricing.
