Just three months after the Proton Suprima S hatchback was launched in Malaysia, Proton Australia have welcomed the Proton Suprima S to Australia.
Carshowroom.com.au can see why the Australian subsidiary was so keen to get the Suprima S down under as quickly as possible. Available in two variants GX and GXR, the Proton Suprima S on paper has better performance, better safety, better sophistication and is the best looking car in Proton's range.
Officially on sale from 1st of January 2014, the Proton Suprima S will be powered by Proton's 1.6 litre, DOHC, 16-valve, Campro, Charged Fuel Efficiency (CFE) engine, that features a low boost intercooled turbocharged engine with a maximum boost pressure of 0.75 bar (75 kPa; 10.9 psi). It will produces 103kW @ 5,000 rpm and 205Nm @ 2,000-4,000 rpm.
At launch the 1.6 litre engine will be matched to a seven-speed CVT transmission, by March 2014 we should a six-speed manual arriving.
Ride and handling has been developed by Proton owned LOTUS, lets hope the team at LOTUS have been able to work their magic in to this little hatchback.
Proton Malaysia have committed to only releasing ANCAP 5-Star safety rating and like the Preve?, the Suprima S has ticked all the boxes. Occupants are protected by driver and front passenger airbags, driver and front passenger side airbags, and full length curtain airbags for front and rear seat occupants.
The Suprima S also comes with a host of safety aids like Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with brake assist, Traction control, ABS brakes with EBD, front Active Headrests, front seat belt pre-tensioners, auto door locks, rear proximity sensors and Active Hazard Lights.
The Suprima S is easily one of the most polished interiors that Proton have dished-up to date. Occupants in the GX will find a multi-function steering wheel, Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity, trip distance and time meter, instant fuel consumption & distance to empty, just to name a few.
In the Proton Suprima S GXR gains piano black highlights on the steering wheel, gear knob, leather trim , push button start/stop, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, cruise control, automatic headlights, automatic front wipers and climate control air conditioning. Also standard is a 7” android based touch screen that incorporates a built in DVD player, sat-nav and reverse camera.
Available in colours are available: Atlantic Blue, Fire Red, Genetic Silver, Solid White and Tranquillity Black.
