Prices are down and equipment levels are up in BMW’s freshened 1 Series hatchback which begins production next month.

No doubt about the value with prices down across the five model range – for example the entry-grade BMW 116i drops from $39,993 to $35,600 while the range-topping rocket, the M135i goes down from $72,400 to $64,900.

BMW Australia reckons each 1 Series hatchback model has received more than $5,000 worth of extras. There’s also a simplified range of options.

Headlining the changes are BMW’s excellent eight-speed automatic transmissions – a standard version for 116i, 118i and 118d and a sports version for 125i and M135i with standard launch control.

As well, entry-grade 116i gets new seat material and rear park distance control.

BMW 118i, 118d and 125i also score the new seat material as well as the ‘Business’ satellite navigation system with a high-resolution 6.5-inch screen.

BMW 125i adds 18-inch double spoke alloy wheels and standard fitment of the Sport Line kit which brings sports front seats, sports leather steering wheel and high-gloss black trim highlights.
