Good news for European performance car enthusiasts with Volvo Cars Australia giving the green light to the S60 Polestar model.
Volvo will import 50 examples of the S60 Polestar to Australia and they will sit atop the S60 Totem Pole, stickered at $82,900.
Based on the Volvo S60 T6 R-Design, the Polestar variant was developed by Volvo’s performance partners Heico Sportiv and Polestar (the latter is Volvo’s motorsport partner and run the Volvo C30 in the Swedish Touring Car Championship).
Polestar provides an engine upgrade which supplies the road-going S60 Polestar with an extra 18kW/40Nm – up to 242kW/480Nm. This results in an improved zero to 100km/h time of 5.8 seconds but impressively maintains combined cycle fuel consumption at 10.2l/100kms.
From Heico comes unique 19-inch alloy wheels and the rear diffuser plus a quad-exhaust system.
Inside, the Volvo S60 Polestar gains sports seats, alloy pedals, sports instruments and a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Volvo Cars Australia displayed the S60 Polestar at the Australian International Motor Show (Melbourne) last year and positive feedback from potential customers created the impetus to green-light the limited edition 50 cars.
