Expect the all-new Outlander in Australia by late this year and, as this first image shows, Mitsubishi’s stylists have certainly sharpened their crayons with the newcomer – a look which really takes the Outlander in a completely new direction compared to the current model. Inside too, Mitsubishi says Geneva attendees should look for a much higher quality look/feel for the new Outlander with a modern uncluttered design, soft, padded surfaces and ergonomic instruments an steering wheel.

We can also expect an EV-based plug-in hybrid version of the Mitsubishi Outlander by 2013.

In the meantime, the third –generation Mitsubishi Outlander will be offered with a choice of 2.0-litre petrol or 2.2-litre diesel powerplants (with fuel-saving Auto Strart/Stop), driving through an all-new six-speed automatic transmission.

Specifications are significantly boosted over the current generation, with the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander boasting a Forward Collision Mitigation system, Lane Departure Warning system, active cruise control, power tailgate, full third-row seats, xenon headlights and tilt/telescopic steering wheel adjustment.

We’ll have to wait for Mitsubishi Australia to provide us with the full details.
