Car Showroom will be among the first to drive Mazda’s ground-breaking, all-new CX-5 compact SUV at the national media preview in two weeks and the company says to expect big things – literally.
Photos don’t do justice to the dimensions of the Mazda CX-5 – its 8.4m2 footprint claimed to be larger than the compact SUV segment’s four top-sellers. The overall length of 4,540mm and width of 1,840mm, combined with Mazda’s curvy ‘KODO’ design language, translates into a strong on-road presence.
And on the inside, that means lots of space for families and luggage – in fact the Mazda CX-5 provides 72mm more leg-room than the company’s handy CX-7. And Mazda says the newcomer is also ahead in head room and cargo space.
Running an all-new chassis architecture, the Mazda CX-5 (to be sold as front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive)will be the first to feature the whole range of SKYACTIV technology – petrol and diesel engines, new transmissions, lighter chassis and stronger bodyshell.
