Land Rover Australia has confirmed customer deliveries of the 2012 Discovery 4 range will commence from November.
With the Aussie dollar currently very volatile, no surprise the local pricing will not be announced until closer to launch.
What is certain is the award-winning Land Rover Discovery 4 – a Car Showroom favourite – scores substantial upgrades in its 2012 guise.
On the outside, range-topping HSE models gain a new-design 19-inch alloy wheel while the current HSE wheel moves to the SDV6 SE model. A startling new gloss black, split-spoke 20-inch wheel is introduced as an option across the range.
As well a new extended design roof rail in satin black joins the options list.
Inside the trim gets some changes and the electrical architecture is up-rated to the MOST Gen 2.1 standard, but the big news are changes to the audio and navigation systems.
Entry level models now score an eight-speaker system with Bluetooth, USB/iPod connectivity and a colour display to replace the previous mono screen.
For the mid-grade hi-ICE Harman Kardon audio system, output is boosted to 380W and two extra speakers take the total to 11. You can also have a touch screen separate to the navigation system.
And the premium Harman Kardon LOGIC 7 audio system grows to 17 speakers and 825W – also with a screen separate to the nav. system.
2012 Land Rover Discovery 4 will offer two navigation systems, both have revised touch screens and the premium version moves to a hard-disc system with integrated music storage and ‘Say What You See’ voice activation.
Also on the electronics front, Land Rover has improved the phonebook capacity for Discovery 4 from 700 to several thousand entries and the rear seat entertainment system adopts WhiteFire cordless headphones, remote control and a single slot DVD drive in the audio head unit replaces the previous luggage compartment DVD storage.
Land Rover will also offer two new options packs. ‘Technology Pack’ comes with premium navigation, ‘Say What You See’ voice activation, front and rear parking aids and rear view camera, while included in the ‘Vision Assist’ pack are adaptive Xenon headlights with cornering lamps and High Bean Assist plus the excellent Surround Camera System.
Packaged with High Beam Assist is the Homelink option which can tune-in to the frequencies of automated garage doors and gates, enabling Land Rover Discovery 4 owners to press a button for easy operation.
