Honda has sharpened its pricing pencils for the all-new ninth generation Civic with prices starting at $20,990.
That’s particularly impressive given the all-new lineup ditches the previous entry-level VTi model (which was priced at $22,490) and starts with the handily-equipped VTi-L. The all-new Civic lineup has three models – VTi-L, Sport and Hybrid.
While power outputs remain unchanged (104kW/174Nm for VTi-L’s 1.8-litre and 114kW/190Nm for the Sport grade’s 2.0-litre) Honda says there are improvements in fuel consumption.
Honda Civic Hybrid swaps its 1.3-litre engine for a 1.5-litre powerplant with 82kW/172Nm. Honda has improved its Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system to deliver more urge under hard acceleration. This time around the Honda Civic Hybrid uses a lithium ion battery which is charged both from the petrol engine and from regenerative braking.
With a stiffer chassis and new Motion Adaptive Power Steering, Honda says we should expect significantly better driving dynamics in the all-new Civic.
Creature comforts and technology are boosted with a new multi-information display and integrated Bluetooth with audio streaming.
Safety gets a tick too – all-new Honda Civic receiving the maximum five-star safety rating from ANCAP.
As well as its 2.0-litre engine, all-new Honda Civic Sport gains leather seats, 17-inch alloy wheels and an electric sunroof.
Car Showroom will drive the all-new Honda Civic range at the national media preview in a few weeks.
