Audi’s handsome new A6 Allroad Quattro appeared at the Geneva Motor Show and will arrive in local showrooms by the end of the year.
At 4.94-metres in length, 1.90-metres wide and standing 1.47-metres tall, the Audi A6 Allroad is a just a tad larger than the A6 Avant.
In fact the elegantly-styled Allroad is 6.0cms taller thanks to its off-road intentions. These are also highlighted by the side sill trim strips, flared fenders and underbody protection plates.
Contrasting paint colours around the wheel wells add to the Audi A6 Allroad’s tough appearance.
Inside, black carpets are fitted to handle muddy going and the dashboard too gets the black look. With a wheelbase of 2.91-metres there’s plenty of space and the luggage compartment has a capacity of 565-litres with the rear seat in-place or 1,680-litres when folded.
There’s the expected Audi technology including a head-up display, ambient lighting, radar-based adaptive cruise control, active lane assist, automatic park assist and a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
In Europe, Audi will offer the A6 Allroad with four V6 engines – one petrol (228kW/440Nm) and three diesels, headed by the twin-turbo 3.0TDI with 230kW which drives through an eight-speed tiptronic transmission (all the rest employ the seven-speed Stronic).
Underneath is adaptive air suspension which lowers the Audi A6 Allroad by 15mm at speed and raises it by 35mm at the touch of a button for off-road conditions. Wheels are 18-inch alloys with 19s and 20s on the options list.
Audi Australia will announce local details closer to launch.
