Fiat’s award winning TwinAir engine – 2011 International Engine Of The Year’ will debut in Australia next year in Fiat 500.
The diminutive 875cc Fiat TwinAir delivers a startling 63kW/145Nm while returning fuel consumption as low as 3.6l/100kms and exhaust C02 emissions of just 92g/km.
Replacing the current 1.4-litre engine in the Fiat 500, the TwinAir model still covers zero to 100km/h in 11 seconds so Fiat says its newcomer delivers around the same performance but with the bonus of fuel consumption 30 per cent better.
Unlike Europe, there are no taxation incentives for new car buyers to downsize to fuel-sipping technology like the Fiat 500TwinAir however the Australia Fiat importer has worked hard to ensure a competitive price for the newcomer when it arrives early next year – full details will be released then.
