More goodies, a BMW joint-venture engine and prices cut to $26,990 (DStyle) and $29,990 (DSport) mean the allure of Citroen’s stylish DS3 steps-up for 2012.
Major changes under the bonnet for the 2012 Citroen DS3 DStyle which switches to a 70kW engine (again sourced from the Citroen-BMW joint venture) with significantly improved fuel consumption - down from 7.0l/100kms to 5.5l/100kms. The sporty DSport model retains its sporty turbocharged 1.6-litre delivering 115kW/240Nm.
Citroen has also introduced a new EGS automatic transmission with optional manual shifts via either the gear-lever or steering wheel paddle shifters.
In addition, 2012 Citroen DS3 gains Bluetooth and USB/AUX ports for the audio and climate-control air-conditioning.
Over the well=equipped Citroen DS3 DStyle, the DSport gains LED DRLs, contrasting body and roof colours, 17-inch diamond-tipped alloy wheels, alloy pedals and tinted rear glass.
Of course one of the major selling points of the Citroen DS3 is its individuality. Citroen says the chic hatch “redefines ‘bespoke’ motoring” with a multitude of interior and exterior colour combinations, trim materials and equipment. Rolls-Royce’s new bespoke operations might have some dispute with that claim but we acknowledge the French brand’s efforts.
