2012 BMW X3 Is All-Turbo

BMW’s slick X3 SUV now runs an all-turbocharged engine lineup with the launch of the new xDrive 28i 2.0-litre petrol model (replacing the previous six-cylinder powerplant).

The new twin-scroll turbocharged BMW X3 xDrive 28i sound impressive with 180kW at 5000rpm and 350Nm from 1250rpm (190kW/310Nm for the previous 3.0-litre six-cylinder model). And there’s a big improvement in fuel consumption (aided by automatic start/stop) – 7.5l/100kms for the 2.0-litre to 9.0l/100kms for the six.

Other changes for the BMW X3 include fitment of BME Driving Experience Control (with ECO PRO mode) for all models and the addition of ‘Business Navigation’ for the xDrive 28i and xDrive 30d.

Price changes are minimal – the xDrive 30d and xDrive 28i up by $1,000, while the xDrive 20i and xDrive 20d cost just $300 more.
