BMW has confirmed its Hybrid3 will be launched in Europe next year, joining the all-new 3 Series lineup.
Appearance counts in the premium segment and the all-new BMW 3 Series looks brilliant. Most noticeable is a substantial change for the front end which is now dominated by large, aerodynamic headlights which seem to point to the hallmark BMW ‘kidney’ grille.
Size is up – wheelbase an extra 50mm, overall length up by 93mm and both front and rear tracks are wider. That translates into enhanced interior dimensions.
But, despite the extra dimensions, the all-new BMW 3 Series is actually 40kgs lighter than the current model.
Until the hybrid model arrives, the all-new BMW 3 Series will enjoy power from an exclusively turbocharged engine lineup. The four engine range comprises updated version of the current four-cylinder and six-cylinder turbo-diesels, an updated version of the range-topping six-cylinder petrol and a new four-cylinder 328i model.
All versions feature fuel-saving auto start-stop and automatic versions will employ BMW’s new eight-speed transmission.
Again, BMW is using its new ‘Lines’ model grades and the all-new 3 Series will be available in Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line.
Inside are a new full-colour head-up display and the usual BMW technology like lane departure warning and the camera-based collision warning system.
No word yet on local prices.
