Audi’s hybrid version of its luxury A8 flagship will start production next year.
Employing a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine with an electric motor gives the Audi A8 hybrid 180kW/480Nm but fuel consumption as low as 6.4l/100kms. Zero to 100km/h takes just 7.7 seconds and the Audi A8 hybrid has a top speed of 235km/h.
On pure electric power, the Audi A8 hybrid can cover around three kilometers at a constant speed of 60km/h or a top speed of 100km/h.
Drive is via a modified version of Audi’s eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and the magnet synchronous electric motor sits where the torque converter would normally be.
Externally, you can pick the Audi A8 hybrid from its conventionally-powered stablemate thanks to 10-spoke alloy wheels (18-inches standard or 19-inch as an option) and an exclusive Arctic Silver paint colour.
