Active driver assistance aids upgraded for the new year.

Japanese carmaker Subaru has sharpened the Impreza hatch and saloon for the 2018 model year, bringing with it important changes to the cars’ active safety tech. It might not be the most exciting model update in the world, but it’s certainly one worth mentioning.

We’re big on safety here at CarShowroom, and the upgrades being rolled out for the Impreza focus entirely on that. There are no changes in terms of kit or appearance for the new cars, but the brands’ proprietary ‘EyeSight’ technology has seen a bump in ability. While EyeSight already features things like forward collision alert, autonomous emergency braking and intelligent cruise control, the 2018 update will see the addition of lane-keep assist, as well as rear cross-traffic alert with full auto-brake, though the latter system is reserved for flagship 2.0i-S models.
