Skoda Previews Vision E’s Futuristic Interior

Last week, we showed off some sketches Skoda had released showing the exterior of their upcoming concept car that would be the precursor to a future electric lineup with tech borrowed from parent company Volkswagen’s big EV push.

Due for a full unveil at this year’s Shanghai Motor Show later in April, the Vision E crossover is a coupe crossover with some definite echoes of sportiness, appearing almost Audi-like in shape and proportion. Now, the Czech manufacturer has revealed what’s lies inside for the four (only) occupants.

Despite not featuring a middle seat for the set of passengers, the Vision E’s interior is focused on providing comfort and convenience through design, ergonomics, and of course, technology. For instance, those seats can rotate independently, making for easier ingress and egress.

The Vision E also employs a trope employed by many other concept cars gone past in that the interior features a no analogue dials and very few to zero buttons at all. Still, it’s all in the name of modernity and convenience, and it does hep that Skoda has made it all look cohesive, clean, and tasteful.

A pair of mega-wide screens and its digital interface dominate the view beyond the steering wheel, extending the entire width of the dashboard and punctuated by floating infotainment screen that, being placed further forward and within arm’s reach, is presumed to be the main point of interaction.

Each rear passenger also gets their own dedicated screen - located on the front seat backs -  to consume media and tap into other connectivity features. A third display at the rear row is placed on the arm rest, which we presume serves to control the climate control for the rear half of the car, among other things, such as the ambient lighting presets.

There’s also a ‘phone box’ housed within each door that provides wireless inductive charging. Skoda envisions the car to offer comprehensive integration of these devices, allowing access to personal settings and functionality from favourite apps via the individual passenger display.
