Starting from July 1st, 2017 premium automaker Infiniti will have a chief designer, Karim Habib, who joins the luxury Japanese marque after a good run at BMW where he was in charge of global design.
You may recognise his work in the BMW X2 Concept and the CSL Homage. Prior to that, he was was head of advanced design for Daimler, most recently responsible for the current Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Infiniti’s current head of design, Alfonso Albaisa, has thusly been promoted to head up efforts at parent company Nissan as SVP of Global Design, which new incoming Habib will be reporting to.
"We are happy to have Karim join us and head our global Infiniti design teams. During his career as a designer and a leader of global teams he always created modern and inspiring designs" said Alfonso Albaisa.
"Karim is very skilled at capturing the heart and passion of a brand while at the same time giving each design its unique character. I look forward to Karim inspiring our teams to shape the next generation of Infinitis”
Habib will be based in Astugi, Nissan’s Japanese technical design centre near Yokohama, from which he will be delegating work between Infiniti’s global headquarters in Hong Kong as well as design teams in England and California.
